Revival
Hundreds of Miami Students Gave Their Lives to Jesus, and Baptisms Ran Late Into the Night
The UniteUS campus movement hit the University of Miami this week. Here is what happened and why the baptisms matter most.

Students at the University of Miami packed the Watsco Center this week, and by the end of the night hundreds of them had decided to follow Jesus. Baptisms kept going outside the arena long after the music stopped, with leaders standing beside water troughs while friends crowded around to cheer each student as they came up out of the water.
The event was run by UniteUS, a student movement that treats a college campus like a mission field. Organizers posted the same line afterward, and it is hard to improve on: "This is what revival looks like."
Where UniteUS came from
The first gathering took place on September 12, 2023, at Auburn University. Tonya Prewett, the movement's founder, has been on stage for the growth ever since. Charisma Magazine reports it has now reached more than two dozen campuses. Crosswalk puts the running total at more than 170,000 students in worship gatherings and over 26,000 reported decisions for Christ.
Those are the movement's own figures, so treat them as self-reported. What nobody disputes is the pattern. Miami follows a string of campus nights this fall, including Pepperdine on September 22, and the format barely changes: worship, a plain gospel message, an invitation, and baptism the same night.
Why the baptism part matters
Look at how the Book of Acts describes the first big harvest. Peter preached, people responded, and they were baptized that same day. The Miami students are doing a modern version of the same thing. A decision is made in a stadium seat, then sealed in front of friends in a trough of water. There is no waiting period and no easy way to quietly walk it back on Monday morning.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.Acts 2:41 (KJV)
This is also the stage where skeptics have fair questions. A big night does not guarantee a changed life. Churches and campus ministries in Coral Gables now carry the real work: Bible study, accountability, a place to sit on Sunday. The numbers matter far less than what those students are doing six months from now.
It is worth asking why a generation raised on screens and anxiety is lining up for this. Our video on why Satan is intensifying his attack in 2026 argues that spiritual pressure and spiritual hunger rise together. A campus full of exhausted, lonely 19-year-olds fits the picture. Many of them are hungry for something solid, and Jesus meets them there.

Key Takeaways
- Hundreds of University of Miami students committed to Jesus at the Watsco Center this week, per UniteUS.
- Baptisms continued outdoors late into the night, with friends gathered around.
- UniteUS began at Auburn on September 12, 2023, and now reports 170,000+ students and 26,000+ decisions.
- Those totals are self-reported, but the same-day baptism pattern echoes Acts 2.
- Follow-up discipleship will decide how much of this lasts.
- Next events: Appalachian State (October 13), South Alabama (October 27), Belmont (November 10).
If you are a student reading this, find the campus ministry nearest you this week and walk in. If you are a parent or grandparent, pray by name for the kids you know. Heaven notices every single one.
I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.Luke 15:7 (KJV)
🙏 Pray With Us
Lord, draw more students and families to Jesus. Keep the ones who stepped forward in Miami rooted in Your word and surrounded by faithful friends. Amen.
