Uzzah stretched out his hand to steady the Ark, and died instantly. God didn't warn him. God didn't give him a second chance.

2 Samuel 6 records one of the most sobering moments in all of Scripture. The Ark was being transported on a cart, not carried by Levites on poles as God commanded. When the oxen stumbled and Uzzah reached out to catch it, God's anger burned against him.

The lesson isn't that God is cruel. It's that holiness doesn't bend for good intentions.

"And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah, and God struck him down there because of his error.", 2 Samuel 6:7
