About This Short

My name is John. Some call me a prophet, others an elder of the churches in Asia. You may know me as the one exiled to the rocky island of Patmos for proclaiming the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. I am not a man of noble birth or political power, but I have been entrusted with a vision unlike any the world has seen, the revelation of Jesus Christ.

But it was here, in this place of isolation, that I was drawn into the presence of God in a way I had never known.

It was the Lord’s Day, and I was in prayer. My mind was fixed on Him when suddenly I was caught up in the Spirit. The stone, sea, and sky of Patmos faded, and I stood in a realm more vivid than anything I had ever experienced.

A voice thundered behind me, like a trumpet: “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last.” It was a voice of unshakable authority, yet one that pierced my heart with familiarity, the voice of my Lord.

I turned, and saw Him: “One like a Son of Man,” robed to His feet, with a golden sash across His chest. His hair was white like wool, as white as snow. His eyes blazed like flames of fire. His feet glowed like polished bronze, and His voice roared like many waters.

In His right hand He held seven stars, and from His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword. His face shone like the sun in all its brilliance. I fell at His feet.

But He placed His right hand on me and said, “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One;, I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of Hades. Write what you see.
