God's Warning About Unforgiveness | The Parable Nobody Takes Seriously
About This Video
The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant in Matthew 18:21–35 contains one of the most sobering warnings Jesus ever gave — that God's forgiveness in your own life is directly tied to whether you extend that same forgiveness to others.

It's possible to follow all the rules to be a good person, attend church every Sunday, read your Bible, and pray every day, and still be in mortal danger of blocking God's forgiveness from your life. It's a chilling thought, isn't it? We spend so much time worrying about the big sins, the ones that are obvious and scandalous. We have this list in our heads of what's really bad and what's not so bad. And as long as we avoid the major ones, we figure we're safe.
We think that if our lives look good on the outside, everything must be okay on the inside. But what if that's a dangerous assumption? What if there's a sin so subtle, so sneaky that it can thrive in the heart of a person who seems to be doing everything right. Jesus told a story about this very thing. And it's not just a story. It's a warning. It's a chilling parable about a man who was forgiven an impossible debt, but then faced a terrifying punishment because of one specific overlooked sin.
This isn't a sin that's loud and public. It's a quiet, secret sin that fers in the darkness of our own hearts. It's a sin that can put up a wall between us and God. A barrier that his grace won't cross if we let it stand. And the scariest part, many of us without even realizing it are guilty of it right now. So what is it? Stay with me because understanding this parable could be the most important spiritual task you undertake this year.
The story which we find in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 18 starts with a question from one of Jesus's closest followers. The Apostle Peter, who was always earnest and sometimes a little impulsive, comes to Jesus with what sounds like a very righteous question. He asks, "Lord, how often should I forgive my brother when he sins against me up to seven times?"
