The Real Reason Why God Allows Suffering

About This Video

If you've ever asked "If God is good, why is there so much suffering?" — you're asking one of the most honest questions in the Bible. This video walks through five biblical truths about why God allows pain and suffering: free will, the consequences of the Fall, spiritual warfare, God's redemptive purpose, and the promise of future restoration. This isn't a seminary lecture — it's a pastoral, scripture-rooted answer for anyone carrying real pain today, grounded in Romans 8:28, James 1:2-4, Revelation 21:4, and John 16:33.

Transcript (excerpt)

If God is real, why is there suffering in the world? You've heard it before, haven't you? The question that keeps so many people awake at night. The question whispered in hospital rooms and screamed at funerals. If God is real, why would he allow this pain? Why would a loving, powerful God let us suffer? And before you try to answer that for someone else, I want to stop you right here and ask, of all the questions in the universe you could ask God, why is this the one you chose?

Because behind every question about suffering, there is a story, a child lost in childbirth, a cancer diagnosis, a tragedy that shattered everything. People don't need a five-point sermon in that moment. They need someone to weep with them, to hold them, to love them like Jesus does. The greatest apologetic isn't clever arguments. It's compassion lived out. But the question remains and it haunts so many hearts.

If God is good and powerful, why do bad things happen? The Bible tells us something crucial right from the beginning. In the book of wisdom of Solomon 1:13, it says, "God did not make death, nor does he delight in the destruction of the living." In Genesis 1, when God created the earth, he blessed man and said, "Be fruitful and multiply. Every plant I give you shall be food." There was no violence, no fear between man and animals.

No death in God's original design. But after the flood, Genesis 9 shows us a changed world. Fear entered creation. Animals became predators. Survival replaced harmony. Sin had scarred everything, altering the very instincts of creation. Death, violence, suffering. They weren't part of God's blueprint. They are the result of rebellion and a broken world. So why does suffering exist? Let's wrestle with this honestly.
